Last updated: December 16, 2025
Summary: PDF Merge & Split processes all files locally in your browser. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server. We do not collect, store, or have access to your documents.
What Data We Collect
We collect no personal data. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not transmit any information to external servers.
How Your Files Are Processed
All PDF processing happens locally on your device using client-side JavaScript. When you merge or split PDFs:
- Files are read directly from your computer into browser memory
- Processing occurs entirely within your browser using the pdf-lib library
- The resulting file is saved directly to your downloads folder
- No data is ever transmitted over the network
Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage - To save your preferences (like theme settings) locally on your device
- downloads - To save processed PDF files to your computer
- unlimitedStorage - To handle large PDF files without browser-imposed size limits
Third-Party Services
This extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
Data Retention
Since we do not collect any data, there is nothing to retain. Your files exist only in your browser's memory during processing and are released immediately after.
